AI architectures were designed around GPU limitations. Brains aren’t dense matrices. Connections are sparse, synapses are plastic, neurons fire dynamically. Matrix-based AIs might have unknown, fundamental expressivity limitations, preventing them from capturing the flexibility of true intelligence.
